Group Project Ideas for Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grade

(ATTENTION!! This blog was creating as a class exercise.)

Hello!! And welcome to my blog!

When I graduate from this Alternative Master's program, I will be entering the classroom with very little classroom teaching experience. That thought terrifies me! While I am doing my very best to absorb every iota of experience from classroom observations and, eventually, student teaching, I worry that it is not enough!

I am hoping to teach the higher elementary grades (fourth, fifth, and sixth), so through this blog I am looking for group project ideas for all subject areas. Please comment with any helpful suggestions! :)

  1. It can be tough starting out as a new teacher! I feel like one of the most important things is for you to have a solid "Back to School Plan." This plan will involve several interactive activities that will allow you to get to know your students. These activities can range anywhere from playing "get to know you"games and questionnaires to allowing the students to create PhotoStories about themselves to share with the class. Harry Wong provides books on how to achieve optimal classroom management and best ways to get to know your students.

  2. This Vincent Van Gough still life art idea came from pinterest. You make a flower pot and each student makes a flower to go in the pot. At the end of the project you put all the flowers together to make a flower pot. Here is the link: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/AcPXJnTpiJiDCH0NnThEEHdO77Jd3GmY9kbAMv-pDGkMNZsiZDxHUe0/ The picture on pinterest is really cute. It's a really neat idea and a good way to introduce classical art to students.

  3. Thanks for the tips, guys! I watched the Harry Wong tapes and I feel like I really learned a lot from him. The closer I get to the end of this program, the more excited I am to get my foot in a classroom!
